Description :
The commemorative coin of 5 Swiss francs issued in 1863 celebrates the Federal shooting from this year to La Chaux-de-Fonds, in the canton of Neuchâtel. Struck in 900 ‰ silver, original it weighs 25 grams and measure 37 mm in diameter. Round in shape, and was demonetized on January 31, 1934.
Obverse: The coin features a seated female allegorical figure, probably representing Helvetia, holding a sword and shield decorated with the Swiss cross. The inscription "HELVETIA" appears above, with the face value "5 FRANCS" below. The engraver of this side is Antoine Bovy.
Reverse: The reverse shows the coat of arms of the canton of Neuchâtel, surrounded by two crossed rifles and oak and laurel branches. Above, a radiant Swiss cross is visible. The inscription "TIR FÉDÉRAL À LA CHAUX-DE-FONDS" is arranged around it, with the date "JUILLET 1863" at the bottom. This side was engraved by Jacob Siber.
Slice : The edge of the coin is striated.
