Description :
The commemorative coin of 5 Swiss francs issued in 1881 celebrates the Federal shooting from this year to Fribourg. Struck in 900 ‰ silver, original it weighs 25 grams and measure 37 mm in diameter. Round in shape, and is now demonetized.
Obverse: The coin features a view of the city of Fribourg with a Swiss cross in the sky. The inscription "TIR FÉDÉRAL À FRIBOURG 1881" appears above, with the face value "5 Fr" below. The engraver of this side is Edouard Durussel.
Reverse: The reverse illustrates an allegory of the Swiss Confederation: a laureate and draped woman, holding a Swiss flag and an olive branch, welcoming the allegories of the city of Fribourg (a warrior with crossbow and shield) and that of Solothurn (a warrior with axe and shield). The inscription "ENTRÉE DE FRIBOURG ET SOLEURE DANS LA CONFÉDÉRATION SUISSE 1481" is arranged around it, with the signature "E. DURUSSEL" at the bottom.
Slice : The edge of the coin is striated.
