Product Name: 5 Swiss Francs Coin Bern – 1885
Description :
The commemorative coin of 5 Swiss francs issued in 1885 celebrates the Federal shooting from this year to Bern. Struck in 900 ‰ silver, original it weighs 25 grams and measure 37 mm in diameter. Round in shape, and was demonetized on January 31, 1934.
Obverse: The coin features the coat of arms of Bern, surrounded by the inscription "EIDGENÖSSISCHES SCHÜTZENFEST IN BERN · 1885" (Federal Shooting Festival in Bern · 1885). The denomination "5 Fr." is indicated at the bottom, with the inscription "C.BÜHLER INV" below, attributing the design to Christian Bühler.
Reverse: The reverse features an armoured female figure, symbolising defence, holding a sword and a shield decorated with the Swiss cross, with a bear (the symbol of Bern) at her side. The inscription "DEM BUND ZUM SCHUTZ DEM FEIND ZUM TRUTZ" (For the protection of the Confederation, in defiance of the enemy) encircles the scene, with the signature "E.DURUSSEL" at the bottom, attributing the engraving to Edouard Durussel.
Slice : The edge of the coin is striated.
